Vancouver Sewing Labour Union Cooperative produces high-quality, locally made soft goods on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, also currently known as Vancouver, BC.
We are committed to providing flexible, unionized sewing jobs that earn a living wage.
The roots for Vancouver Sewing Labour Union Cooperative began when Jonny, one of our founding members, met Gigi who was making and selling masks through the VALU-Co-Op COVID-19 Coming Together (Vancouver) initiative. With the goal of getting Gigi and many other sewing professionals a living-wage job, the Vancouver Sewing Labour Union Cooperative was founded with 11 owners who are passionate about creating quality, hand-made goods in a fair labour environment.
Our Cooperative grew out of the need for local, quality-made masks and is now able to employ a whole sewing team who create our soft goods. We are partnered with VALU Co-Op to create goods for their team to do custom prints on.
We are proudly unionized under IATSE B778, the Arts and Cultural Workers Union. For more information about our union, read more here.
